Interactive Educational Games For Your Child

Interactive educational games are the best way to keep your children engaged in the class. Not only do they help them to learn new things, but also give them a chance to practice what they have learnt in school. Interactive educational games don't only initiate receptive and intelligent learning abilities, such as reading, writing, speaking and in many cases, listening, they also help to develop different skills on a wide spectrum of mental and social competencies.

An interactive educational game is a combination of an audio slide show, puzzle or word search where the child must first identify the object he is supposed to click on and then drag or flip an image to the correct place on the interactive smart board. This allows the child to practice identifying the objects, and their functions, using the images, and their knowledge of vocabulary words. For example, by using the word "Skipper" the child is required to point with his finger on a skipper picture on the smart board. After successfully pointing the skier image to the skipper picture the child gets rewarded with a treat.

These interactive educational games can be so much more than that! They can be combined with lesson plans, activities, and even flash cards for extra learning. The whole idea behind using them is that you want to use whatever media will most effectively engage your children in the lesson. You may decide that the best way to do this is through the PowerPoint presentation, or a combination of visual and written information, including vocabulary words. What makes PowerPoint work very well in this regard is that, while the children are engaged and paying attention, their minds are on the lesson, and therefore you are able to reinforce lessons, right to their memory, long after the session has ended. With an audio slide show or with a puzzle, the children are merely observing the information being presented and can't interact in any way.

Another good combination is an interactive, educational game that incorporates a real-life lesson plan. This is a great way to combine technology and real life and make lessons both fun and interesting. If you have a trip planned, and you know that your kids won't be sitting around doing nothing but playing video games all day, why not get them involved with a scavenger hunt? A trip to a local museum could also be a great interactive educational game lesson.

There are hundreds of different learning tools you can use, whether you are teaching reading or math or whatever it is you are trying to teach. However, one of the best tools out there for teaching kids is interactive games. Interactive educational games, or games based on different learning needs, can be used to supplement traditional lesson plans, or as stand alone units to teach kids. Some of the more popular interactive educational games include: Pictionary - this is an excellent choice to teach vocabulary words, and you can add extra word games, and word searches, at the same time. Scrabble - a great choice for vocabulary and spelling games, and works well with phonics as well. Tetris - great for spatial learning, and as an additive to a lesson plan.

In addition to using a variety of multimedia resources to supplement a traditional lesson plan, incorporating a smart board into your curriculum can be a great way to keep your kids engaged. Smart boards are portable devices that give you a whiteboard like surface to write on, and they include some additional features. They are battery operated, have gyration sensors so they change colors when your child is moving, and they even have speaker capabilities. You can play audio lessons, so you can hear the teacher's voice over the smart board. You can also record individual skills and turn them into games on the smart board. These interactive educational games can help you reinforce key concepts in your lesson plans, and they can help you develop games and lesson ideas for the whole family.
